The long version
Almost every shaver that starts pulling is a worn foil on a working motor. This one is built so you can fix the first without replacing the second.
The difficult part of a rotary shave is not the cutting — it is contact. A head that cannot pivot will either skip over the hollow under your cheekbone or press too hard on your chin. Each of the three heads here sits on an independent two-axis gimbal with 8° of travel per axis, and the head assembly itself flexes at the neck. In practice that means one pass where a fixed head needs three.

The heads
Three heads that move in twelve directions, because a jaw is not flat
The hard parts of a face are the hollow under the jaw and the ridge of the chin, both of which a rigid head crosses at the wrong angle. You compensate by pressing, and pressing on a rotary head is what causes irritation.
Each head floats on its own gimbal and the plate carrying all three pivots as well. The cutting surfaces stay flat against skin through the transitions, so the pass that used to need pressure now needs contact.
Irritation is a pressure problem long before it is a blade problem.

The motor
It listens to the load and adjusts before you notice
Coarse growth and three-day stubble load a shaver very differently, and a fixed-speed motor splits the difference badly in both directions. The controller here samples load hundreds of times a second and raises torque where the beard is dense.
What you hear is the pitch staying constant across the jaw. What you feel is not having to go back over the same patch.
A motor that holds pitch under load is doing the work you would otherwise do twice.
Wet or dry
Sealed properly, so the whole thing goes under the tap
Wet shaving with foam and dry shaving on the way out the door are different routines, and a shaver that only does one of them well is half a tool. Sealing to IPX7 makes both available and, more usefully, makes cleaning a ten-second job rather than a project with a brush.
Rinse the head open under warm water after every use and leave it open to dry. That habit alone is most of the difference between a head that lasts twelve months and one that lasts six.
