The long version
Dry faster at a lower temperature. That is the entire argument, and everything in the tool is downstream of it.
Most dryers solve the same problem the same way: more watts, hotter air, longer exposure. We went the other direction. The motor is a nine-blade brushless impeller spinning at 110,000 RPM — small enough to sit in the handle, which is why the head is short and the balance point falls under your palm instead of out at your wrist. That geometry is the difference between a tool you can hold overhead for eight minutes and one you cannot.

Nine-blade brushless impeller, ceramic-shielded bearings, 1.9 s spin-up. Putting it in the handle instead of the head moves the balance point under your palm — the reason this does not feel like the weight it is.

Volume, not just velocity
Airflow leaves the barrel at 23 m/s through a 34 mm bore. Fast air strips water off the strand mechanically, so the element never has to work at the top of its range.

A glass-bead thermistor sits in the outlet stream and trims element current 40 times a second. Outlet air holds within ±3 °C of the setting you picked, even when you cup the nozzle against your head.

The motor
We moved it into the handle, and everything else followed
A conventional dryer puts a large, slow motor in the head, because that is where there is room for one. The mass then sits out at the end of a lever with your wrist as the fulcrum, which is why your forearm tires long before your hair is dry.
A nine-blade brushless impeller spinning at 110,000 RPM is small enough to sit in the grip instead. The head gets shorter, the balance point moves under your palm, and holding the tool overhead stops being the hardest part of the routine.
The head is short because the motor is not in it.
The air
Most of the water on wet hair is sitting on the outside of it
Surface water is held to the strand by surface tension, not chemistry. Move air across it fast enough and it comes off mechanically, with no heat involved at all. Only the water bound inside the cortex needs energy to leave.
So the design brief was volume and velocity rather than watts: 85 litres a minute through a 34 mm bore, leaving the barrel at 23 m/s. The element then handles what is left, at a setting you would be comfortable holding your hand in front of.
Volume without velocity is a fan. Velocity without volume is a straw.
The control loop
Forty readings a second, every second you hold it
A glass-bead thermistor sits directly in the outlet stream and trims element current as the reading moves. Cup the nozzle against your scalp and the air trapped there would ordinarily spike; here the loop catches it inside a few hundredths of a second and backs the element off.
The practical result is boring, which is the point: outlet air stays within 3 °C of the setting you picked, so the temperature you chose at the start of a section is the temperature at the end of it.
A bimetallic cut-out is not temperature control. It is a smoke alarm.

Living with it
The filter twists off and goes under a tap
Every dryer pulls lint, dust and hair through its intake, and every dryer slowly chokes on it. The usual fix is a fixed mesh screen and a toothbrush, which nobody does, which is why so many dryers feel hot and weak after two years.
This one has a magnetic ring that comes off with a quarter turn. Rinse it, shake it, let it dry, put it back. Two minutes a fortnight, and a spare ring ships in the box so the tool is never out of action while one dries.
Maintenance that takes two minutes actually gets done.
